James is a contest winner!!!

Well, I just found out! It's so exciting! Earlier this month James entered a drawing for a Christmas Card Art contest for Bay Alarm Company. His Aunt works for them and knowing that he was such a creative person, she gave him an entry form. The winners will have the art printed on the cards that the company mails out to customers and they win a gift card. James won third place! I'm not sure yet what he won exactly but I hope to know very soon! I'm afraid I don't have a copy of his artwork to share with you but if I get one I will scan it and post it later. I am so proud of him! He is working on some more creative artwork so as soon as I can I will post those for you to enjoy as well. Have a happy and safe Halloween!

All of this was made from paper and wood and he made it all by himself using his imagination and creativity.

Home from camping!

We just finished an 11 night camping trip to the redwoods in California. The boys took some great photos and I will be posting them over the nextcouple of weeks!

School is almost out! Summer's Almost here!

Wooo Hoooo! This is the last week of school for the boys and then they are out for the whole summer! Lots more photo opportunities are on their way with summer vacations and fun in the pool. I can't believe the school year is alomost over! It seems like it just began. The boys are growing up so fast!!!

Mountain Lion Fish Story

We went camping this past weekend at a campground near our home. The boys love camping and have been going for about 8 years now. Anyway, our first day there James is standing by the front of our trailer. He suddenly yells, "Deer! Mountain Lion!" And Before we could even react he was in the trailer shaking like a leaf. Now, I've never seen him move so fast in his life! We went to look and didn't see anything. More than likely it was two deer running in the field across the road. James broke the door latch on his way into the trailer and a few minutes later comes up to his dad and asks why his legs are shaking so bad. We explained that if you do see a mountain lion you don't run. You make a lot of noise and make yourself look as big as you can. By the end of the day, he had seen its teeth as it was trying to bite the deer. Each time he told the story it got bigger and bigger!

Band? I hope so!

Today Ryan is taking a test on the song flute. Next year he will be in 5th grade and has the option of being in the school band. He has always wanted to learn to play an instrument and is hoping to be on the band. He has to play Mary Had A Little Lamb on the song flute with out making any mistakes. If he can pass, which I think he will, he gets to turn in the song flute and choose his instrument for next year! He practiced for almost an hour last night and another 20 minutes or so this morning. He can now play the song with out looking at the sheet music! I am so proud of him! He is a little nervous about playing it in front of the whole class though. I am keeping my fingers crossed for him today and I will post tomorrow if he passed the test and which instrument he chooses. He really wants to learn the guitar but that is not an option for school band. I'm sure he will do great in anything he tries though. I am impressed that he can now read sheet music which is something that I always struggled with. I am a little nervous for him today too. I will keep you posted on how he does today!

While taking his shower the other night one of my boys asked what kind of soap he was using. He was having trouble holding onto the bat you see. I told him it was Lever 2000, he then replied, "I know why they call it Lever 2000. Because it's always leavining your hand!"

Middle of the night conversations!

So last night around 1:45 a.m. James woke up and called for me. I went to his room to see what he needed and he proceeded to ask me, " If we had all stayed home last night what would we have had for dinner?" Obviously his mind was working on overtime. It then took him about an hour to fall back to sleep. He was awkae when he asked me this question. I have had them call me in the middle of the night in their sleep and tell me things such as, Don't forget to put the scooter under the Christmas tree. This was in August! Have a great day!
